What does "Reduce" mean?

Reduce means using less of something so we make less trash.

About 1/3 of all food produced globally is wasted, even though much of it is still perfectly edible. That is enough to feed billions of people.

Recycling on e aluminum can save enough energy to power a TV for about 3 hours.

A single plastic bottle can take up to 450 years to decompose, but only about 30% of plastic bottles get recycled in many countries.

Recycling one ton of paper can save roughly 17 trees and thousands of gallons of water.

Use only what you need

Take only the paper you will use.

Don't waste snacks or food at lunch.

Use fewer paper towels and paper

Use both sides of paper.

Draw on scrap paper first.

Bring reusable items

Reusable water bottles instead of plastic ones.

Lunch boxes instead of bags or wrappers.

Turn off and save

Turn off lights when leaving a room.

Save water when washing your hands.

"We only take what we need and don't waste things."
